St. John the Baptist

John the Baptist lived in the desert, eating insects until he could begin God’s mission. His task was to spread the word of God and erase sin through Baptism in the waters of the River Jordan; Jesus was also baptised by John the Baptist.
The saint died by order of King Herod.
First he was imprisoned, then beheaded. The saint’s worship spread throughout the world very quickly.
A life of renunciation and penance made him an immediate role model.
