The Gigantomachy is one of the most archaic myths representing the struggle of disorder and brute force against reason and heavenly order; in Greek mythology it is understood as the battle of the giants, children of the earth, against the gods of the heavens.
The Gigantomachy, the final battle between gods and Giants, involved Hercules. Him being a demigod like the Giants, he could hold his own against their power. Heracles hurled himself with violence and cunning against the Giants, succeeding in victory and thus restoring the supremacy of reason and balance over brute force.
