Genesis

The multi-layered Genesis stories include the Creation cycle, the Earthly Paradise cycle, the Progenitor cycle and the Noah cycle. In the Creation cycle we find the following scenes: the creation of the heavens on the first day; the creation of the earth; the creation of light and the creation of the firmament; the creation of the waters; the creation of the land; the creation of the plants; the creation of the stars; the creation of the fish and birds; the creation of the land animals; the creation of man; God’s rest on the seventh day. The scenes continue with the stories of the Earthly Paradise: the creation of Adam; the creation of Eve; God tests the progenitors and forbids them to eat from the tree; Adam and Eve fall into temptation; punishment after sin and expulsion from the Earthly Paradise. The Noah stories include: Noah’s family; the covenant between God and Noah; the building of the ark; the ark with the animals; the dove sent out of the ark returns with the twig; the sun returns and the animals come down from the ark; Noah’s harvest; the building of the tower of Babel.
